Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop: Cowboys Gear

  • Everything you can think of pertaining to the Dallas Cowboys, it's here. You name it, they have it. If you are a Dallas Cowboys fan (i like them, but they aren't my favorite), you can pretty much deck your whole house with what is here. If they don't have it, they can either get it or point you to someone who can find it for you.

    You name it.

A little higher than average, of course it is the Cowboys...

Everything. This place has a bunch of different outlets. There is a Timberland Outlet, Dress Barn, Mikasa, Tommy Hilfiger, and others. I go to the Timberland Outlet when I go here to get my clothes for hiking and camping.

Brazoria County Library Book Sale: Reading Enriches The Mind

We’re a family who enjoys a good read just as much as a great slice of pizza; and in my humble, little abode, in which only a handful of grown adults can comfortably stand, you’d have a better chance of finding a book lying on top of my coffee table – or anywhere else in the house for that matter – than a video-game controller – although we do own a couple; they're somewhere inside my home.

My children and I recently paid a visit to the town of Angleton, Texas, a thirty-two mile drive south of the city of Houston, in Brazoria County, in order to attend the Brazoria County Library’s massive book sale: every so often this library, after spending countless hours rummaging through their inventory, sponsors a book sale, typically for three days, in order to sell various books, movies, and other items which have not been checked-out within a three-year window of opportunity. The books are normally found in pristine condition save for a couple here and there, and can be had for a very reasonable price: all hardcover books are only a dollar (USD) a piece; other items are about fifty U.S. cents.

After stumbling upon an advertisement for the book sale at our local library, in Pearland, my kids and I embarked on the forty-five minute drive to Angleton, early in the morning, before the library opened for business, in order to get the first crack at the library’s inventory – this is an imperative measure, if you desire to find the good stuff; and although we were not the first group of people to enter the facility, we managed to find some of the best items available: Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" (3rd edition) being the highlight.

$1 per hardcover; $2 for cookbooks; and .50 per paperback.

Tucked away in the taut nook of a decrepit and rather feeble building, we found a delightful little bookstore, called the Paperback Swap ‘N’ Shop, after finishing our hiking adventure at the Texas City Nature Preserve; while driving through the town of Dickinson, Texas. We stopped in, with no serious expectations, believing the store would be filled with nothing but romance novels: from the outside their sidewalk was littered with books from said genre. We entered anyways, with the intention of killing some time, and were immediately taken aback from what we found – numerous works from Kahlil Gibran, Jack London, Joseph Conrad, as well as many others occupied the shelves, causing me to enter a frenzied state of exhilaration – and want. My children quickly located the kids’ area and began grabbing things off the shelves; I had to calm myself down before easing their excitement.

Although some merchandise was new, the vast majority of the merchandise was used. I found the used books to range from decent to excellent condition, all of which came with massive discounts: we grabbed thirty dollars worth of books and paid less than fifteen. My children grabbed various works from the “Goosebumps” series as well as a one or two books from the “Twilight” series; I grabbed the following books:

    1. Joseph Conrad’s “The Secret Agent”.
    2. Joseph Conrad’s “Victory”.
    3. Khalil Gibran’s “Thoughts and Meditations”.

Upon our return home, we removed numerous titles from our personal libraries, which we no longer desired, with the intentions of returning to the Swap ‘N’ Shop, in order to make some trades.

Picture #1: Conrad’s “The Secret Agent”.

Picture #2: one of the store’s shelves.

This depends on your taste of literature (assuming you even enjoy reading): the store contains numerous works, from all sorts of genres, and are all offered at a reasonable price.

Prices vary from as little as a $1 to as much as $6.

A well known sporting goods store which carries just about everything you can think of in sporting goods, camping and gifts and home decor.

Unbelievable place, there is over 200,000 sqft just devoted to outdoor activities. There are some 20 stores all around the country and 2 in Texas (Grapevine (DFW area) and Katy (Houston area).

At Grapevine there is a hunting section which covers 7,500 ft., a large clothing section including brands such as 'RedHead', 'World Wide Sportsman', 'Woolrich', 'Bob Timberlake', 'Columbia' and more. The displays are amazing, they showcast one animal from each of the 30 finest big game species found through North America. There is a shooting arcade and boating section.. just about whatever type of sport you can imagine is covered here. There is also a gift shops, cafe and a large Aquarium with a waterfall cascading down into it.

This Mall is huge!!!.. there is over 2 million square feet of shopping and dining under one roof and it is reportedly the largest shopping mall in the southwest.. I could certainly believe that when I saw it.

There are outlet stores for Saks 5th Avenue, Dockers, Ann Taylor, Liz Claiborne, Gap, Bugle Boy, Brooks Brothers as well as JC Penny and Nieman Marcus just to name a few . The prices are really very good.

Other than the large Department Stores there is also a great variety of very different individual stores which also seem to have good values. The Mall is very colourful inside and out. You really need to be prepared to spend several hours there and have plenty of money to spend because there are some great temptations.

    El Mercado (Market Square).
This is a great market area with lots of Mexican atmosphere. Some really good restaurants as well as loads of colourful stores selling souvenirs, typical Mexican wares and clothing. Something for everyone. There is a really lovely upmarket 3 level store, Los Pueblitos, which had some very nice wares indeed.

    Quarry Market
Quarry Market is a huge shopping area just to the north of the city and is San Antonio's newest and hottest shopping centre. (700 N. St. Mary's, San Antonio).

    The Rivercenter Mall
The Mall has around some 130 shops, stores, and restaurants on its three levels. There is also a multiplex cinema, a comedy club, and an IMAX theatre, which features the film "Alamo...The Price of Freedom" on a six-story-high screen. On the river side, where the tour boats make their turns, you can hear and see mariachi music being played.
