DRAGON CAMP

Southlake is known for its football team, the DRAGONS. Each summer a training camp is held, overseen by highschool football coach, Todd Dodge. The Dragons have only lost one game in the past 4 years, so the team is highly respected nationally.

Their Fall football camp for 7th grade and up brings boys in from all over the country. Our grandson was fortunate enough to be here when camp was held this summer.

Each morning we would carpool the boys to camp where they learned techniques and conditioning. The sessions were from 8:30-ll:30 am on some very hot days! At the end of each morning's training, the boys would huddle in a group and an outstanding athlete from their age group would be highlighted. At the end of the week, additional awards were given out. It was an exhausting week for the participants, but a worthwhile one!

NOTE: Coach Todd has moved on to bigger things at college level and I'm sure is fondly remembered.

Where the Carroll Dragons Play

Southlake bursts their buttons with pride when the DRAGONS football team comes up in conversation.

The team plays in Dragon Stadium, which is pictured here. A small gift shop on the ground level offers sweatshirts, hats, stadium seats, mugs, jackets and several other items with the team logo. A team cookbook has even been produced!

Team morale has to be sky high from the support it receives from the community. When we first moved to the area, we were advised that when the DRAGONS played...shops and restaurants emptied out because everyone and their uncle was at the game.

There are times when this actually seems to be the case--with the exception of Christmas, when crowds of people from miles around come to Town Center to shop!
