Texas Tourist Traps

  • Too Expensive

    Houston Tourist Traps

The exhibition of fish was great, but very short. Lots of video to fill up the empty spots. Best indoor feature is the hands on tank that allows kids to touch. Best read the signs though because the help rarely speaks. I definitely would not let them touch the baby sharks though.... the 'guide' was otherwise occupied. The shark train is fine and...

  • The West End

    Dallas Tourist Traps

I went to the West End many years ago & had a blast with my kids & my brother. We walked around, took the carriage ride & learned some Dallas history on the trip, got hit up by the rose peddlers, listened to street musicians, looked in the shops at the warehouse & had the best time listening to the guys at the fudge factory - singing while making...

  • Galleria

    Houston Tourist Traps

it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.......it is a monster of a mall though.....and it does have an ice rink but not a good one......the ice rink in the memorial city mall is much bigger and nicer.....and I like the memorial city mall much more......

  • Disappointments

    Dallas Tourist Traps

it sucks. you're better off looking at the website. in fact i'll even give you the url www.southfork.com unless you have a lot of time on your hand and nothing else to do or are just a huge "Dallas" fan, skip it. if you have to go see it and you will be in plano,tx (the suburb of dallas where southfork is actually located) maybe head to connemara...

  • No Traps Here

    Dallas Tourist Traps

Shopping Shopping and Shopping! My favorite thing to do besides travel~ There is a skating rink in the mall which is strange, because it gets over 100 degrees in the summer....Just stay inside in the air conditioning in Dallas! VERY HOT HERE!

  • Not that many tourist traps in Texas...

Well, for the exception of the cities, the State is definitly free of them. However, don't underestimate the cities for they hold several interesting activities worth a stop.

  • This mustang horse sculpture...

This mustang horse sculpture is not far from the airport in a city called Las Calinas. You can see a movie how they were made and imported from Europe to the United States.

  • anything within walking...

anything within walking distance of the Grassy Knoll, almost everything that looks slick, is. The going rate for even a really good hamburger with avacados and everything is about $6.00 if they are charging more then they suck... P.S. drinks tend to be on the expensive side, beer can run you up to $4.00 a bottle mixed drinks tend to be more,...

  • The guided tour at the Alamo...

The guided tour at the Alamo in San Antonio. This is a historical building and any interested in US, Mexican or Texan history should visit here, but DO NOT TAKE THE GUIDED TOUR. This was the most boring tour I have ever been on.

  • Dallas and Houston are not...

Dallas and Houston are not relaxing places. Prices high, crowded, bad traffic. They have points of interest, but if I weren't going with a certain thing in mind to visit, I wouldn't go at all. The rest of Texas is roomier and friendlier. But Dallas and Houston are more high-energy 'party' towns if you like that sort of thing.
