    Chautauqua Auditorium

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Chautauqua Auditorium is in Getzendaner Memorial park and is the only survivor of the turn-of-the-century occurrence - The Traveling Chautauquas . It is listed on the National Register of Historical Buildings and Sites. The Chautauquas had something of the spirit of the revival meeting and something of the county fair. Built in 1902, it seated 2500 and drew Texans from all over the State to hear great Americans such as William Jennings Bryan, Will Rogers, and the U. S. Marine Band.
