From March through December each year, the town of Wimberley and the Lions Club host the Wimberley Market Days every first Saturday. It's a great way to spend a day, whether your antique shopping, looking for some nostalgic gifts, or simply wanting to enjoy a day outdoors just looking for something neat. It's the oldest market in Texas, and the 2nd largest market in the state with over 475 booths. Plan to spend 2-3 hours if your just strolling or most of the day if you're really digging in and looking at everything. There are plenty of concessions and usually some live music. Check it out.
Also, not too far from there is Wimberley Glass Works, owned by a local artist, Tim DeJong. He takes glass blowing to the extreme and produces simply gorgeous pieces. What's neat is that he built a demonstration area complete with seating and padded backs for spectators. He does full pieces every day but Monday & Sunday and you can sit and watch. He's a funny guy, loves interaction from the audience and gives a nice overall show while you watch him create his product. Figure 30-45 minutes to watch a piece go from start to finish.
We've been several times now and really make this combo a nice Saturday outing.

There are numerous wineries throughout the Texas hill country. Wimberley is pretty close to several, one of which is Dry Creek winery. It has one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen in Texas. Buy a glass of wine and enjoy!

We go to Wimberley every year to bring our daughter to Rocky River Ranch. This year (2010) we found a new restaurant called Kate's Place. This place was excellent. It is an old converted house with with parking in the back. There is a major Bar-B-Q pit in a covered area but we didn't eat Bar-B-Q. The food options are diverse, burgers, mexican, and specialites.
We had some great Quesadillas made with blue cheese. Then we all chose the bagels, cream cheese and smoked salmon. Man, these were great! Lots of dill, onion, tomatoe, capers.
Entrees were in the $6 to $8 range on the lunch menu. My daugher had some of her bagel to go.
Favorite Dish: Bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Located right in the town square in Wimberly, Ino'z is my favorite place to eat in the area. They hve a nice wooden deck that allows pets ad looks over the creek and many large trees. The menu is diverse, with many sandwich, salad and casual food options. A great place for a burger and a beer on a nice day.
Favorite Dish: I love the steak sandwich.
