If traveling by plane, this will be your final destination.
Considering the kinds of weather this airport gets, it does a good job of maintaining flights and schedule.
I personally don't have a complaint about the airport. Not as architectually stimulating as Denver but it does the job. Almost all carriers can get here.
If you travel with your equiptment, there is a seperate conveyor belt for skis and snowboards.

The UTA (Utha Transit Authority) operates buses to go to every route in the city and surrounding counties from Salt Lake City and. There is a bus route that goes up Little Cottonwood Canyon and stops at the door of the Cliff and Snowbird and the steps of Alta. Its even easy to have lodging in Salt Lake City, hop the bus and go up to your ski resort.

Its easy to rent a car at Salt Lake City Airport. I'm sure you know your favorite rental agencies and won't waste time writing how to do that for this.
You can rent a car and drive to Alta or any resort. No problem. But I usually take a shuttle or even the public transportaton when I go skiing.
Reasons are: I'm there to ski so the only time I need wheels is to and from, waste of money the rest. Shuttles are very good at driving in white out, puking snow conditions. They haul my stuff right to the front door and back. (disclaimer, for short trips, rental cars are cheaper)
Negative is that shuttles want a very conservative time of pick up to make your flight. If you want your last run to be 3 last runs, then youll get a little pissed the're picking u up so early.
