Brigham City Things to Do
Just outside town across a very busy highway lies “the largest inland delta” in North America (at least). As such, it is a magnet for birds moving on their way up and down the continent in search for the best spot to feed, mingle and reproduce. Summer might not be the best time to visit but as with many natural phenomena any time could end up being exciting enough. Despite its controlled status and existence, the delta provides the means for many bird species and attracts two-legged creatures to watch them. For this purpose, at the official entrance an information center with movie theater and trading post of tourist memorabilia is set up. Bear River delta has had its fare share of abuse by competing farming interests till it was abundantly clear that a compromise must be struck or the largest inland delta will be no more. The flow of the Bear River was constantly monitored and canals built to let enough water to the lake so it does not silt up but not even a drop more than needed so the farmers can have their lands irrigated as well. The most pleasant by-product of this move in the eyes (nostrils) of the unbiased foreigner is the lack of stench that characterises the rest of the lake shore closer to Salt Lake City.Related to:
