An amazing location that is truly a wonder in Lake Powell. It is found near the end of Clear Creek Canyon. The Cathedral in the Desert is a narrow slot-like canyon leading to a lush grotto. Depending on the lake level it is accessible by smaller boats or PWC's. We navigated the canyon in 24' Maxum and squeeked through the narrow passages to find a small anchoring spot. The narrow passages create a mystical ride, and keep you wondering "what's around the next bend?" As with many canyons at Lake Powell you find yourself dazzled as you look up at the red and black weeping walls, or viewing the rays of light as they make there way down the shaft. Once you reach the end it's a short hike up to the grotto of vegetation and pools.

  • Lake Powell Boat Rentals - Bullfrog Marina

    Boat rentals at Lake Powell

Renting boats at Lake Powell is a great way to explore it's beauty and play in the water. If you don't own a boat, renting is a great option - and you don't have the cost of upkeep! If you're renting near the Bullfrog Marina area you have 2 options, Aramark Corporation or Offshore Marina. Aramark rents boats on the lake from Bullfrog Marina - starting at $400 per day. Offshore Marina is just a few miles from Bullfrog and rents boats from $280 per day. Both options have their pros / cons - renting at the marina is convenient but expensive, while renting offlake is a better value but you'll need to launch the boat. Either way, you're in for a sweet vacation!

    Somewhere Under the Rainbow

by ExGuyParis Written Feb 25, 2003

Rainbow Bridge... a natural wonder that is really a wonder. A short and easy hike from the boat tour of Lake Powell (the boat stops, gives you time to walk to see this, and then sails on)-- or a long and difficult hike from a road (13 miles)... this is worth the trip, however you get there.

FISHING is rewarding all year. Primary game species are largemouth and striped bass, black crappie, catfish, bluegill, trout, and walleye. The cold waters of the Colorado River below the dam provide excellent trophy trout habitat. Fishermen frequently catch very large rainbow trout upstream from Lee's Ferry.

    WATERSPORTS dominate...

WATERSPORTS dominate recreational activities. Houseboats provide comfort at a relaxed pace, as well as a chance to sight-see beyond developed areas. Sailing (bring your own boat) is best at Wahweap, Padre, and Bullfrog Bays. Canoes and kayaks (bring your own) provide access to secluded areas in small canyons. Lake waters are relatively warm from June through September making swimming, snorkeling, SCUBA diving and waterskiing enjoyable.
