Night life in the monument will be limited to what you bring with you. But one thing you'll most likely be able to count on will be stars like you've never seen them before. Bring a star finder so you can know what you are looking at. Enjoy the Milky Way, Scorpio, the summer triangle, Cygnus, Hercules, the Big and Little Dipper, most likely a planet or two and maybe some meteorites.
The evenings at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument are wonderful but not if you are looking for a club to dance the night away or even a small pub. You'd have to drive to Page, AZ or Kanab, UT to find much of anything even resembling that. But for those who love nature, sitting around camp, having a few beers with some tasty snacks can be far more rewarding. The Paria Canyon is gorgeous as the sun goes down and as the red rock surrounding you begins to glow the creatures of the desert come out to play. We had a pair of collared lizards obviously much enamored with each other perform their courtship each night on a pretty sandstone formation next to our tent. If the scenery doesn't inspire you, they sure will. ;)
Dress Code: As warm as it is during the day, the desert gets cool in the evening and you'll need a jacket if you stay out long after it gets dark.
