Continuing on UT30 past Laketown, one approaches the lake right off the highway. Parking is tricky because of the abrupt escarpment and winding highway, but there are several rest stops and lake beaches with pull-outs. This lake has good birdwatching and boating opportunities. These are images from the driver's seat, using my iPhone. Later, I parked and took out the bigger lens camera. Bear Lake is quite large and impressive in its beauty.

I stopped at the crossroads of Lake Town, got some directions and history about the place from the locals in the general store, purchased an ice cream sandwich, and then enjoyed a brief walk away from the driver's seat of my truck. There's a burger joint and plenty of place to park the truck or RV.

As noted in the introduction, a primary route to Lake Town and Bear Lake is off a secondary road that branches off US30 in Wyoming. Look for WY89, and then when this crosses the border into Utah, it become UT30. Be careful about this route in winter, although in summer it pretty easy.
