Any brewpub in Utah: think globally, drink locally

by richiecdisc

When it comes to nightlife, Utah's man-made wonders take a big back seat to its incredible natural wonders. It is no wonder I have been out only two times in all my weeks in Utah on this and two previous trips to the sublime state. The truth is when you have great scenery like this, you want to be in it as much as possible. That said, there are a few good places to have a drink in the evening if you are so inclined. On my first trip to Moab in 1994 I stopped in at Eddie McStiff's which had a fun atmosphere and some decent house-brewed beer for the hot climate of the area. The food was okay too if memory serves me right. On my recent stop in Moab in 2008, the Moab Brewery was the port of call. My wife and I ate their once and had some beers on another occasion. The beer is not world class but certainly not bad and the food was just okay.At the tail end of the trip, we stopped at Squatter's...

Club DV8: Dance the night away!

by TracyG

This is probably one of the trendiest clubs in SLC. A great crowd, and some equally great dance music. This is a brilliant place in a city that is not really renowned for it's club scene... This is a private nightclub, so all non-members will need to be signed in by a member, which any of them will do. Smart/casual.

Downtown Salt Lake: Summer Sunset & Safe Feeling

by LauraWest

Just want to say that every time I went downtown, even after dark, I felt safe. Even alone. The streets are so clean, too. I remember some beautiful Summer sunsets, orange, red, purple and pink, in different combinations, clouds stretching across the wide western sky. No skyscrapers to hide the view. At night the temperature cools & the air is dry. In the Summer it gets down in the Fifties, so enjoy! No dresscode to walk around their at night! You might want to bring a long sleeved shirt, that you didn't need in the daytime!

Few and far between: Few and far between

As a result of Utah's heavily Mormon population, you won't find a bar or nightclub scene in this state, even in the more populated Salt Lake City. There are private clubs in the city, but not anywhere else as far as I know. Choir performances are more likely than concerts, although I hear that the Utah Jazz Fest is something not to be missed. In Utah's southwest corner and the Grand Circle Region, even restaurants close early. These are areas where sidewalks are rolled up by 9 p.m. But that's all the more reason to call it an early night and fill your days with hiking or other recreational opportunities.
