Park City Things to Do

  • Sundance Film Festival

Created in 1981 by veteran film actor Robert Redford and a group of his friends and colleagues the Sundance Institute invited a small group of young filmmakers to the mountains of Utah where they worked with leading writers and directors to develop their original independent film projects. In this mountain retreat away from their usual pressures,...

  • Main Street

Main Street is the business centre of Park City where you'll come across many art galleries, boutiques, restaurants and cafes. It becomes lively on weekends at night when skiers, including many from neighbouring resorts, head for après-ski and dinner. The street is also the historic centre of the town, with many preserved early 20th century wooden...

  • Ski Deer Valley

Free and frequent buses connect Park City to the nearby Deer Valley ski resort. The 10-minute bus ride is well worth the trip for a different experience. The resort is designed for the well-healed and is only open to skiers, i.e. no snow boarders allowed. If you are a skier, this could be heavenly! Deer Valley grooms trails much more than Park...

  • Ski Park City

Park City offers excellent skiing with state-of-the-art facilities having benefited from the 2002 Olympic games. The base of the resort lies at 2100 metres, while the peaks rise to just over 3,000 metres.

During the summer months (from late-July to mid-August) the Snow Park Lodge is host to the Deer Valley Music Festival in conjunction with the Utah Symphony. This is a great way to meet the locals as everyone seems to attend. The seating is split into three sections. Stage left is the blanket side; the middle is reserved and to your right is the...

  • OLYMPIC TRAINING AND SPEED THRILL RIDES

The Utah Olympic Park is located in Park City just before you get to the historic Old Town center. Tours are offered at the center and if you are lucky enough to be there when the Olympic athletes are around then you might catch them training. Things that you can do vary from Zip Line rides that are fast and steep to bobsled rides. The bobsled...

Park City Restaurants

  • Whiskey Tasting

I'm not much of a whiskey connoisseur so it was a stretch for me to try a sampler. However, I enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The salmon was good, but the whiskey Creme Brulee was amazing. I only had a bite of it since I'm lactose intolerant =)

  • Chubs, a local favorite

If you ask a local they usually say that this is their favorite mexican joint. We always see someone we know when we head there to eat and it is a great place to socialize with the people that live in Park City. The burritos are small and tasty but my favorite is the small steak taco salad. It is large enough to split and the meat has always been...

  • Park City's Finest

One of Park City's newest restaurant additions (as of Feb 2013), Table One is also one of its most exquisite. It is part of the Sky Lodge hotel, and is set in a very elegant dining room in a historic building just off Main Street in the heart of town. The menu is international, with many Italian-inspired dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious...

  • Best Place for Beer in Park City

Found this little gem on lower Main Street heading back to our hotel. Apparently used to be a martini bar but the new owners have decided to focus on craft beer. They have at least 60 excellent beers including my favorite, the Belgian Trappists, which I did not expect to find this in Utah. The Bartenders (Meadow and Chaz) were awesome. Ordered a...

  • Park City, UT

In the mood for some chillout after skiing? head to Park City. Park your car and wander around. Plenty of places to eat, chill, watch locals (who, apparently, everybody knows each other), tourists (who apparently forget that in Utah you can't find beer with alcohol content abover 3.25%) At the entrance (of almost any place) you will be asked if...

On a Wednesday night this is the place to go for all locals - those who are from Park City and the many many people who work in the resorts, hotels and restaurants in the area. Park City Transportation

The best thing about the bus system here is that they are FREE! There is a summer and winter schedule so make sure you find out what schedule we are on and note if the stop by your location is open. If you have a bag over your stop - it is closed. The playing of radios, cassettes or CD'S without earphones, smoking, eating, drinking, and animals...

I wish this were true, that you would be able to wait at the ballon stop (like bus stop) and at set times they would glide down and take you away to your next stop.In the picture you can see the ballon that took off before us.

Park City Shopping

  • FUDGE GALORE AT THE CANDY HAUS

Walking around the Old Town of Park City and going in and out of all the boutiques and specialty stores makes you run out of energy. So you need a quick fix of sugar to put the bounce back in your walk. While inside of a Mall that had many different types of stores for tourists, one location stood out for me. I told my wife to go browse while I do...

I never fail to almost double my wardrobe with clothes I dont really need but enjoy every year at this mall. With the rest of Park City being so expensive, this outlet mall is perfect for my full-time student budget!

Park City Warnings and Dangers

  • LOOK FOR THE PAY FOR PARKING BOX

If parking on Main Street in Old Town Park City, make sure you visit the Ticket Stand that sits on the sidewalk within a few car lengths. Buy your time and return the ticket receipt to your vehicle and place on the dashboard, time side up. Doing this will avoid getting a parking ticket that might just spoil your day.

  • NO PARK CITY

Parking is a dream of the past during Sundance. The best thing to do if find a spot way ahead of the time you need and either take one of the free buses that travel throughout Park City or take a cab. Don't park in an area you shouldn't as they may tow your car.

There is no airconditioning in Park City. Everyone kept saying 'this is the hottest it's been in years!' I kept thinking to myself, what good is that doing me now? None of the restaurants have air conditioning and I was melting from the heat! I thought Las Vegas was hot, but at least we have A/C!

Park City Tourist Traps

  • The Entire Town is a Tourist Trap

As with most any Utah restaurant but especially in Park City anything rated ***** would be *** , anywhere else in the world. While there are some authentic relics of the old mining days that are of some interest. Much of the town and it's residents are from the last 5-10 years. Just as the new building are phoney plastic shells meant to appear like...

Park City What to Pack

  • deWilde's Profile Photo

by deWilde Written Oct 7, 2007

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Make sure to bring warm clothes come September as we frequently get snow and the temperature starts to drop. The days may be warm but the evenings can get into the 30s occasionally.

Photo Equipment: There is always something to take a photo of - bring a good camera.

Park City Off The Beaten Path

  • Tuesday's at the Broken Thumb

The Broken Thumb is a local’s bar located in the Park City Rec Center. This low profile bar hosts some of the best wings you will have in Park City.
