if u'r into small indie music this is the place to be. i've been amazaed at the tons of bands i've seen here;sometimes the musicians are more than the people with tickets like me.. and the small yard everyone hangs out around a fire..it's really cozzy sometimes; you chit-chat with someone and later you see them playing inside the garage...yes....Kilby court is a small court with little shop, local art (paintings) hanging sometimes from the trees, shabby couch, and a small garage inside of which the bands play.
it's definitely my favorite place in SLC!
you've got to pay small entry fee, and because it's an all age venue, liquor is not served!
Dress Code: anyway you like it...the more informal, the better

This little bar or night spot is not a very big but what it lacks in size is very cozy and the decor is very pleasing. Most guest have enjoyed this little night spot and those who don't stay at the hotel like to visit it since it's within walking distance from other hotels. It is actually one of the few that stays open a little longer than other night spots that serve spirits.

Save that girl on the Real World who went to New Orleans and then became a delinquent (NOLA will do that to you!), there aren't many crazy parties going around. Maybe its because the state has the lowest alcohol content in their drinks out of all 50 states. This equals not much of a nightlife or drinking scene. New reason for BYOB.

If you're not really into the typical night club/meat market scene but you want a wild night on the town check out The Tavernacle. Fri and Sat nights are wild and crazy, maybe weeknights to - I've only been there on the weekend.
If you've never been to a dueling piano bar let me explain, there are two pianos - people request songs and the pianists play them. If you hate the song you pay them to stop, but others can pay them to start again. If it's a special night for you, birthday, bachelorette, etc they will get you up on top of the pianos to play you a song. People sing along, dance in the aisles and just get totally crazy. It's a lot of fun!
They play everything from Waylon Jennings to Queen to Elton John. When I took my husband for the first time he didn't understand how a 'piano bar' could be wild until we got there. The last time we were there and they played Bohemian Rhapsody I looked around and the whole place was playing air guitar and just jammin, all while singing at the top of their lungs. Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond is also a huge favorite, as well as Tiny Dancer by Elton John. There are several that really get the crowd going like you wouldn't believe.
It's very important to contact them a few days in advance for reservations if you want a table. You have to be there by 8:30pm or you lose your table and no seats can be held after 9pm. They place is very popular and it's wall to wall people most of the night.
Dress Code: Generally casual but I've seen people dressed very nice as well.

I got taken to this nightclub by some locals. Now these locals aren't the regular club goers but heck they stumbled upon what I found to be a great club. The scenery was great, the music vibe perfect, and there are 2 floors of music and an outdoor area to enjoy. What a night
