The Red Iguana is on the west side of town, a not so desirable location. The food will always bring you back though. I have lived in Salt Lake for over 10 years and being a big fan of authentic Mexican food, it is the only place I will go anymore. Expect to wait at least 10-15 minutes for your table, but definitely wait. Their margaritas alone are enough to wait. There is plenty of options for vegetarians--try the enmoladas or enchiladas poblanas if you are a veggie. Prices vary from about $6.50 to $8.00 for regular meals or $12.00 to $18.00 for the specialties. Watch out though--the portions are huge if you go big. The mole sauce is what the Red Iguana is known for and it's so good you'll dream about it.
It's all good, no matter what. by janicewilson Food. Starting with the chips and salsa and ending with the sopillas, food was plentiful and delicious! Ambience. Modest, warm and colorful. Service. Friendly and busy. Be prepared to put forth a bit of effort to grab the waitstaff's attention. Dress. Very casual. Price. Decent price for great food.
If you avoid the seafood (don't go anywhere near the seafood enchilada), you can't go wrong. All the proteins (with the exception of the aforementioned fish) were juicy, tender and flavorful. Mole Poblano, Shredded Beef Taquito and the Beef Flauta were crazy good!
