This is one of most loveliest victorian buildings I have seen. It most definitely catches your eye while in route to The Gateway mall. The Devereaux House was considered as one the most lavish and & stylish home during its day. William Jennings, Utah's first millionaire and his wife, Priscilla, regularly entertained visiting dignitaries and local luminaries at the home known for its elaborate ornamental plaster, outstanding hand-grained woods, lush English gardens, and decorative wood carvings. It served as the temporary home of the territorial governor during the Utah War. Restored after a fire in 1979, the Devereaux has houses a retaurant presently, but has served its community in many ways
Tour schedule:
Tours of the Devereaux House are arranged upon request. These tours cost $1.00 per person and must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Groups of ten to 25 people can be accommodated. Contact Mary Lou Gottschall to arrange your tour.

A very impressive statue, which honors Church leader and pioneer-colonizer Brigham Young, who led the first company of Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. It was even on display at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. Its moved around from different locations in the square, but has found its home finally in its present location.

This 76 foot 4,000 lb. bronze eagle erected on 1859 marks the entrance to Brigham Young's property at the mouth of City Creek Canyon. It stands out most definitely and I was amazed how massive it appears. I have never seen anything as ornate stretching across a road. It's most impressive!

Another lovely historical building that stands outs from the street. I found myself staring up to the top of the greek columns that dominate the front of the building. I have wonderful appreciation of historical buildings. I wasn't going to add this, but thought better of it since it's architecture is so appealling.
