We look all smiles in this pictures, but in reality, we were freezing our tushes off. This was taken on the day after the Opening Ceremonies and it was nearly zero degrees Fahrenheit. The Utah mountains can get that cold in the February. Not all the time, but it happens. A neck gaitor can make all the difference in the world.

Deer Valley is the ski resort in the background. We are on our way up to the Women's Moguls event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. The Deer Valley ski resort is located about 45 minutes east of Salt Lake City.

If you rent a car, make sure ahead of time that it is equiped with snowtires and all other safety features. This is, of course, if you are there in winter, because facing roads like this one with regular tires might not cut it. Just drive slow, the slopes aren't going anywhere!
