Luggage and bags: To do the West Rim Trail as an overnight trip you'll need a backpack.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Sturdy hiking boots are a must and good socks, something people skimp on. Liner socks save you from blisters and if you haven't tried them you should.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sun screen is king at sunny Zion.
Photo Equipment: Wide angle, Zion is BIG. Zoom for animal shots and flowers. Polarizer for mid-day shooting though shooting early or late in the day is preferred. Tripod for cute couple photos.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: A tent is a great investment so get a decent one, light enough to backpack but spacious enough to car camp. Sleeping bags and just as important good sleeping mats. Three burner stove comes in handy for car camping but a small backpacking stove for wilderness trips. Water filter! We didn't have one and used chemical treatment which is not best in Zion's water starved backcountry.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: *Water shoes. Essential. You'll be spending 17 miles in the water, you want protection. Some can do with just tennis shoes, but I recommend renting some heavy-duty boots before going.
*A hat. The sun overhead, however brief, can be brutal. Shade is also hard to come by.
*Waterproof socks. To go with your shoes.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: *Sunscreen and insect repellent. 'Nuff said.
*A first aid kit... you're really alone, never know what happens.
Photo Equipment: Definitely bring a camera. You'll want it for sure. Watch out for water damage... if you take a spill, there's nothing stopping the camera from taking a dunk as well.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: *Bring a space blanket for some shelter in case you get caught there without planning. Even in the summer, it can be really cold at night with the wind.
*Extra food.
*Water filter. In case you run out, want to be able to purify your own.
Miscellaneous: *Even though you're in a canyon, a topographic map is a handy thing. USGS 7.5 minute quad map 'Temple of Sinawava'
*A good, sturdy walking stick. With slick rocks and water everywhere, it saved my legs more than once.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: We went in June, and I still needed a light sweater for the cool mornings. Hiking shoes are a MUST! I love tennis shoes, and I didn't bring any of them. I bought us Merrell hiking shoes and 5-10 canyoneers for this trip. Love them both!
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Tons of sunscreen
Band-Aids
Photo Equipment: Video camera, digital camera with lots of memory cards - you will be amazed at how many pictures you will take

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: You should dress in layers here, the weather can get a little chilly at night. Hiking shoes are a must! If you are going on the Narrows trail, you can even rent water/hiking shoes in Springdale.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: That desert sun is hot even in winter, don't forget your sunblock.
Photo Equipment: I found a split neutral density filter helpful.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Canyoneering gear is available for rent in Springdale
Miscellaneous: Always have water with you. Even if you don't hike, the warm weather can be dehydrating.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes. Sandles simply won't cut it here. The trails may sound easy, but the paths are generally quite steep. I might also advise bringing an umbrella (preferably as little metal as possible) since the thunderstorms can sneak up on you in a hurry.
Photo Equipment: Certainly bring your camera, the views are awesome.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Bring sunscreen especially if you are susceptible to burning. Bring plenty of drinking water, it can get hot out there.
Miscellaneous: Bring a snack for the end of the hike especially if your hiking with childeren and don't forget your park map so you can reorient yourslef if you get confused.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Snowstorms are rare, but possible. Cold days in November through April are the norm. If you're visiting during this time of year, be sure to layer up. Pack gloves, sweaters and hats. Fleece is a good option.
Photo Equipment: A must

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Zion is 1/2 the elevation of Bryce, so it can be over 100 deg farenheit in the summer. Bring t shirts, shorts and a hat since the sun is strong here.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sunscreen is a must.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: There are several campgrounds. See accommodations.

Luggage and bags: For a day in the park you would be wise to take:
water, snacks (my personal favourite is peanut M&Ms)
Comfy walking shoes, sunscreen, hat, shades, camera and film, collect maps and weather information from visitor centre before setting out on a hike.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Check weather conditions, you may need waterproofs.
We bought some plastic capes from Zion Lodge gift shop because it was a bit cold and drizzly. The were only about $4 and they really kept us warm and dry.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: A slug of little items make the hikes better, and does not detract form continuing the hike without troubles.
