An American poet, ROBERT LEE FROST (March 26, 1874 to January 29, 1963), was one of the most popular and respected poets of his generation.
Received four Pullitzer prizes for poetry.
He and his family are buried in Old Church Cemetery "Vermont's Sacred Age"
The First Congregational Church of Bennington, is also known affectionately as the OLD FIRST CHURCH. Located on Monument Avenue, the Church was the first thing we saw when we arrived in the town of Bennington. Of course it was raining, but we still got out of the van to take some pics.
The congregation organized in 1762 and the current structure was built in 1805. Sanctuary dedicated in 1806.
Next to the Church is the cemetery, known as "Vermont's Sacred Age". In this cemetery is buried Robert Frost and his family. I just followed the signs "Robert Frost Grave". It's way back of the cemetery.
Favorite thing: Located on 238 West Main Street, the SACRED HEART ST. FRANCES DE SALES CHURCH was the first Roman Catholic Church in southern Vermont.
