Sugarbush Farm

Another maple syrup farm, this one in the Woodstock area. You have the opportunity to take a small nature hike through the woods to see how maple syrup is gathered. Return to the farm to pet their cows and goats, and then visit some of the buildings on the grounds to look at what farm life is like. Finally, stop by the main farmhouse for some free samples of cheese and syrup!

Note, the road from Woodstock to the farm is a little bumpy. We thought we must have gotten lost, but later learned many farm roads in the area are like it....

Quechee Gorge

About an hour south of Waterbury in Woodstock, you can visit the "Little Grand Canyon" of Vermont. There's the usual touristy stores at the top of the trail, which includes a wine store with free samples. Take a walk down the trail to get to the bottom of the gorge along a rolling river. From here, you can see the bridge that spans the gorge. It's a fairly minor hike, and the scenery is worth the time.

Harpoon Brewery - Windsor, VT

One of the many small breweries in the area, located in Windsor. They have a small restaurant, tasting room, and a observation area, with documentation on how they brew their beer. I did try the Harpoon ale, which was pretty decent. No guided tour, so this probably isn't worth the trip if that's what you're after. For those who have been on brewery tours and just want to sample the beers - it's worth the time.
