    Rock It Grill is a typical bar and grill. It has ordinary American food, alcoholic beverages for those so inclined, friendly games of pool in the background, and sports on the telly.

    The last time I was there to eat, it was round about 1998 when my train for home was delayed, I had their fried chicken strips with fries (with a hint of Old Bay Seasoning), and a strong cup of coffee.

    Looks like you are in Mykonos or Santorini.

    You can get Saganaki (sautéed kasuri cheese,) and broiled squid stuffed with shrimp . Try the Smyrna style beef and lamb meatballs.

    My friend Dorothy took us to this old restaurant and said George Washington used to frequent it with his friends.
    We enjoyed the ambience and the dishes there!

    In Old Town these are the best for French food: La Bergerie (pictured), Le Gaulois and Le Refuge. La Bergerie is very expensive. Le Gaulois is a family operation that is excellent. However, it has recently been sold.

    Outside of Old Town, but still in Alexandria, there is Chez Andrée.

    For Caribbean food, there is Mango Mike's in the West End. It's on Duke Street, not too far East of Landmark Mall.

    Bear in mind that I do not like Caribbean food.

    Our favorite restaurant is a small one owned by a husband and wife team of magnificent chefs. It is called Tempo. Serge Albert, who comes from Toulous specializes in Northern Italian cuisine. Wendy Albert, who comes from California has added a nouvelle cuisine element. Try it. You'll like it.

    Their salmon is exquisite. So is everything else.

    The photo shows Irwin and me entertaining our granddaughter, Wendy, at Tempo when she came in for a visit from Colorado.

    If you like seafood, there are two restaurants right near each other at King Street near Union. The Wharf. is excellent. The Fish Market has the greatest oysters, but the ambiance leaves much to be desired.

    This is a typical diner, run by Greek-Americans.

    Personally, I don't care for this place, but I know a lot of people who love it and keep going back there.
