My friend Dorothy took us to this old restaurant and said George Washington used to frequent it with his friends.

In Old Town these are the best for French food: La Bergerie (pictured), Le Gaulois and Le Refuge. La Bergerie is very expensive. Le Gaulois is a family operation that is excellent. However, it has recently been sold.
Outside of Old Town, but still in Alexandria, there is Chez Andrée.

For Caribbean food, there is Mango Mike's in the West End. It's on Duke Street, not too far East of Landmark Mall.

Our favorite restaurant is a small one owned by a husband and wife team of magnificent chefs. It is called Tempo. Serge Albert, who comes from Toulous specializes in Northern Italian cuisine. Wendy Albert, who comes from California has added a nouvelle cuisine element. Try it. You'll like it.
Their salmon is exquisite. So is everything else.

If you like seafood, there are two restaurants right near each other at King Street near Union. The Wharf. is excellent. The Fish Market has the greatest oysters, but the ambiance leaves much to be desired.
