Fabulous Spanish restaurant with authentic cuisine. The variety of choices on the menu is spectacular (until the waiter/waitress asks you what you would like to order). Try the tapas. You get the best of everything.
They also have Authentic Flamenco performances every Tuesday and Thursday, Spanish guitar music every Wendesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Favorite Dish: Definitely the variety you get by ordering Tapas. But the vegetarian paella was delicious.
19th Century seaside decor - very comfortable atmosphere. Piano players keep the place lively with sing-a-longs and lots of fun.
Favorite Dish: Clam Chowder, Shrimp Cocktail, Crab Cake Sandwich, Hushpuppies and the Fresh Baked Bread - all great!
This is a great old tavern in a 200-year old building. Great atmosphere and very friendly bartenders. Always a good time.
Favorite Dish: I have to admit that my favorite menu item here is beer! The Crab Soup is awesome, especially when accompanied by a good pint of ale!
I'll list a few favorites from Old Town:
Taverna Cretekau, on King Street. It's Greek and yummy.
Union Street Public House, on Union Street (go figure). There's a bar and a restaurant, and it's a pretty big place. The atmosphere is casual, the food is good, and the beer is cold. 'Nuff said.
Chart House, on the water. Delicious seafood and a beautiful view of the river. Remember to order the special chocolate dessert (I forget the name) before you order your meal. It takes that long to make!
ECCO Cafe on Fairfax street 2 blocks north of King Street in Old Town. It's good italian-american food, good bread and wines, good service.
Good food, lots of it, moderate prices. It is usually packed, so get there early.
Favorite Dish: Spagetti Calamari.
Hours of Operation:
Sunday: Brunch: 11:00am - 3:00pm
Lunch: Monday - Saturday: 11:30am - 3:00pm
Dinner: Nightly: 5:30pm - 10:00pm
A very nice restaurant in the middle of historic Alexandria. Good lunch specials. The cuisine is real 'Italian' Italian, not 'American' Italian.
The food is excellent. This restaurant is family run. The interior is a bit dark, for the romantics. I prefer more light.
Favorite Dish: Grenouille
The menu varies month by month. There is always something featured at a good price. It might be a salmon or a special steak.
Favorite Dish: I enjoy many of their offerings.
Looks like you are in Mykonos or Santorini.
You can get Saganaki (sautéed kasuri cheese,) and broiled squid stuffed with shrimp . Try the Smyrna style beef and lamb meatballs.
This is a typical diner, run by Greek-Americans.
Favorite Dish: Personally, I don't care for this place, but I know a lot of people who love it and keep going back there.
For Caribbean food, there is Mango Mike's in the West End. It's on Duke Street, not too far East of Landmark Mall.
Favorite Dish: Bear in mind that I do not like Caribbean food.
If you like tapas (and who doesn't) try Las Tapas on King Street near Washington Avenue.
Favorite Dish: On occasion, there are Spanish dancers performing.
