    Don't buy Student Tickets

by HotSpotJ Written Nov 22, 2005
Hokies are #1 always... even after a Miami defeat!

Due to becoming a perrinnial top 10 football team, tickets to Hokie footballe games have become very hard to get.... for as long as I know, students have been able to sell their tickets to the general public, but that has all changed.... so if you see a student ticket for sell, DO NOT buy it unless you are a student with a student ID, they will ask for one and you WILL NOT get in without one.

Book hotels in advance for football weekends

by mikelisaanna Written Nov 12, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

On football weekends in the fall, Blacksburg's population doubles as thousands of Virginia Tech fans descend on the town to see their beloved Hokies play football. Hotels and motels in Blacksburg and Christiansburg (the nearest other town) book up months in advance for football weekends, so you may get stuck staying in Roanoke, which is 40 miles away, if you aren't proactive.

  • Game days

Here is a comparison of blacksburrg to different locations during Virginia tech football games.
    several hours before game-LA freeway
within a few hous of game start- NYC
during game- Ghost town in Nevada
    after game-NYC

take into account that traffic will be horrible before and after the game and there will be no parking anywhere in town.

  • Getting lost

When driving on the mountian roads that surround Blacksburg, be careful that you don't get lost. There are few roads in the town's surrounding countryside, and while they might be beautiful and have stunning views...it is easy to get lost. Try to bring a map whenever you venture out of town.

Do not wear West Virginia paraphenalia

by HokieinNC Written Apr 30, 2004

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you wear West Virginia Mountaineer logos, you are likely to get jumped.

West Virginia University is Virginia Tech's most hated and bitter rival. UVA is more of a fun rival, fun to hate in more of a joking manner. With WVU & VT, it is old-fashioned hate. I would say a majority of Tech fans would prefer never to play WVU ever again in anything and would be thrilled if they lost every football game going forward.

That said, I am just kidding about "getting jumped" if you wear WVU stuff. Generally, Hokie fans in Blacksburg welcome visiting teams with open arms.
