A good camera
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I'd make sure I was wearing a good, sturdy pair of shoes.
Photo Equipment: Fredericksburg is chock full of historical sights, old buildings, fine dining, and antiques. So, I would probably bring lots of film for a conventional camera or a memory card with lots of space for those with a digicam.
- Historical Travel
Walking shoes or be prepared for a foot massage.
Luggage and bags: I have a tendancy to over-pack as I hate to be with out, and I don't want to shop when I arrive. Make sure your luggage is waterproof, as it snows and rains here, and I'm never sure anymore what it's going to do at any given moment.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Really depends on what time of year you arrive. Virginia has a varied climate, so Google Virgina before you plan to arrive.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring your standard stuff but know there's a drug store close by as well as a shopping mall on RT.3
Photo Equipment: Bring what you need, but don't over-do it. There are plenty of stores close at hand to go and refresh your supplies. You may have to travel a little bit, but really not that far. Don't dispare if you run out of something, there's a drugstore close at hand.
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: There are plenty of camping areas and the beach is about 2 hours or so away. Lake Anna is in Spotsylvania, and there's a park there that allows swimming.
Miscellaneous: The picture was taken in early October. Warm durring the day, but you need a jacket, sweatshirt or sweater for the nights.
