    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

They have 2 weekends a year here where the talented NASCAR circuit races, one in the spring and the one in the fall. The tickets range from $50-75. Both are very good seasonal events, as the drive in the spring is almost as enjoyable as the fall drive, where the leaves are changing and the mountains are robust with color. If you do attend a race here, plan to arrive at the track about 9 AM for a afternoon race, this will give you time for traffic, to park, and to eat. For the best view of the race, buy tickets above row 20, anything below that and you will have an insufficient view of the track. Also, this is a very enclosed track, bring earplugs, it gets loud. One unique thing about the races here are that the drivers start lined up against the wall, so you can go down to the track and talk to them before the race as they are waiting for their cars to be readied.

Theres not alot to do in this town, but if you are bringing children here a great place to see is the Virginia Mesuem of Natural History. The museum has all sorts of diplays and historical information concerning our natural past from indians to ancient species of life... a fun time for those who like to learn!

There is virtually no nightlife in the town of Martinsville to speak of. You'll have to drive into Roanoke (220 North) or into Greensboro (220 South) to find decent nightlife, with Greensboro being more diverse as it has a great variety and even decent gentlemens clubs, which Roanoke doesn't, though most actual race fans enjoy Roanoke more because of the "homly" feel there.

Parking at any Nascar event is a very important move, as many times it can dictate your day- a good parking spot might get you out after the event in 15 minutes, parking in general parking has caused me to wait over 2 hours in traffic! When going to Martinsville speedway, the best parking is in the yards/lawns along 220 business just before you up the incline to the speedway. the charge is usually about $10 and saves you a TON of time when compared to parking in the general parking next to the speedway. In and out- quick and easy!
