Leaves every day at 10 from Buzzard's Point Marina and returns about 3:45. $22 for adults and $11 for children.

Tangier is an island in the Chesapeake with a fishing village with quaint narrow streetsand is reputed to be the soft crab capitol, and the people speak with an Elizabethan accent.

After a relaxing one and one half hour narrated cruise, the ship docks at Tangier. You can eat a family style seafood dinner at the famous Chesapeake House. Picnic area, sandwich and gift shops are also conveniently located. Walk around this quaint island, or take a tour on an elongated golf cart.

The Reedville Fishermen's Museum, in the Reedville Historic District, tells the story of the menhaden fishing industry, the watermen of the Northern Neck, and the Victorian fishing village of Reedville. It consists of several buildings, including the Walker House (pictured - the oldest house in Reedville) which was built in 1875. In the spring of 1995 the home was refurbished and refurnished and now represents a waterman's home at the turn of the previous century.

Other buildings include #474 Main Street which houses the offices, the Covington Building which was built in 1995 and enlarged in 2003, and which houses both the permanent collection and changing exhibits, and the Pendleton Building, which houses the Boat Building Shop and the Model Shop.

The museum also includes the skipjack Claud W. Somers, the netting boat Elva C, the pilot house of the Herman M. Krentz, as well as several smaller craft.

The Museum is open daily 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM from 1May to 1 November. Closed January 19 to March 6 except for groups by appointment. Otherwise open on weekends (Sat and Sun in the spring, and Friday to Monday in the fall)

Adult Admission - $3.00, Children Free.

  • taking your dog for a swim

If you are looking for a place to stay with your dogs and want them to be able to go into the water, the KOA in Reedville is the place for you. Two cabins are right on the edge of a creek. That creek flows into the bay. It is relaxing and beautiful. You can even put in your canoe and they can swim along with you.
