El Paso restaurant is a local chain of 6 Mexican restaurants in the Richmond area. My first go of this chain was on American Independence Day when several of us were campaigning for a state senator. After all the day's events wound down, we visited was the Chesterfield location on Centralia Road- located in a small shopping centre. The interiour was well-appointed and, most importantly of all that day, well air conditioned. The service by a native Mexican waitress was phenomenally friendly, attentive, and prompt.
Favorite Dish: Not terribly hungry after a good lunch and an ice cream snack later in the afternoon, I had the combination 1 which consists of a taco and enchilada (beef or chicken, I chose the latter) together with Mexican rice and refried beans. The taco and enchilada were pretty good. The rice was just a wee bit dry and it never occurred to me to put green peas in Mexican rice. Of course, refried beans by their very nature, are bland. Perhaps it would be better if they also offered black beans as a side dish. The comfortable atmosphere, the good service, and the great company made this a more memourable dining experience than most.
