Sam Miller's is another fine dining experience in Richmond which rates right up there with Morton's, Bookbinder's, and Juleps. Sam Miller's is the seafood restaurant in Richmond. The inside of the restaurant is really nice. The tables are covered with fancy white cloth and the waiters/waitress are dressed in black and white dress attire. The mood is real calm, and the lightening is like Julep's real dim. The restaurant has some pipes running in the ceiling which are a really neat touch, considering it used to be a warehouse in downtown Richmond. This is another restaurant in which you would want to bring someone special, or a really good friend. You could come here for a normal supper, but you would want to probably wear khakis and a polo. This restaurant isn't as fancy as Julep's but it is still a really nice restaurant and one of only a few real treats for a special occasion.
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish by far are the crab cakes. I loved the crab cakes here. I am not usually a huge fan of crab cakes, but Sam Miller's really hit the spot right on with their's. The crab meat was so good, that when I was done I ended up ordering another small portion from the appetizer menu. My date for prom had a mixture plate with scallops, clams, and shrimp and she also really enjoyed this combination. This was about 2 years ago. The second visit was with David early this year and he tried the calamari, which he really liked as an appetizer and for supper I talked him into the crab cakes. He told me if he had 3 thumbs that would get it.
