17th Street Farmers Market: Richmond's Farmers Market
Although not technically considered a shop, the 17th Street Farmers Market in Downtown Richmond, VA is a nice little spot to stop in during a visit through the city. Located within a block of the main train station, this market is a wonderful little enclave for the local artisans peddling their wares. It is completely open air, and really only took 10 minutes to walk through, there were various different items that could be purchased, after a little bit of haggling. Local fresh fruit and other food stuffs such as honey were available, as well as knit items, macramé, kites and other fabrics. Candles, gemstones, and even a few swap meet type items are available.
There are also several restaurants located within walking distance, including two Latin American themes, one of Cuba, the other of the Dominican Republic.
