Learn about Richmond's fascinating history here

The Valentine Museum focuses on preserving the history of Richmond. You can view displays from when Richmond was an important port town with an active slave trade, when the city was considered the Harlem of the South, and how the Civil Rights Movement played a part here. The museum was founded by Mann S. Valentine as bequested in his will. The collection began with his collection of various historical artifacts including the historic Wickham House, of which there are guided tours.

The Valentine Museum is located in close proximity to the State Capitol, Museum of the Confederacy, Confederate White House, and the John Marshall House.
