the virginia holocaust museum offers interactive exhibits on ghetto life and nazi concentration camps. the holocaust museum also has a replica of the nuremberg trials courtroom. an interesting museum for students of world war II and 20 th century history.
The whole idea of this museum is to try to make you experience some of the events that took place during the Holocaust. Darkness, motion sensors and dummies contribute to create a stressful environment, designed to make you feel the way people felt as they were being transported to the camps, hiding, or waiting in the gas chambers. A powerful experience!
Plan at least an hour to visit the entire museum (self-guided tours). I wouldn't recommend bringing young children along - we were two adults and we both got really scared.
