VMFA (Virginia Museum of Fine Arts) just reopened after extensive remodeling. The grand opening celebration was May 1 & 2, 2010. This museum is located on the Boulevard (yes that's what it's called) in the Fan district of Richmond. Admission to the museum is FREE!
Special exhibits may have a fee; recently we saw the Tiffany Glass exhibit and admission was $15. This is a special visiting exhibit; the museum actually has it's own Tiffany Glass exhibit in the Art Deco area.
There is a $3 fee for parking in the deck or you can cruise around and find street parking but you may have to walk a few blocks. Neighborhood is residential and safe.
I've been going to this museum since I was a kid when one of my friend's sisters was a docent and she'd take us along. A fabulous place in Richmond, not to be missed.
This is one of the South's largest art museum and is an affordable alternative for a rainy day (it's free with a suggested $5 donation).
