Historically narrated tours of the James River and Kanawha Canal are offered from the Turning Basin along the Canal Walk between 14th and Virginia Streets. Cruises run from noon through to 7pm Fridays and Saturdays from spring to autumn; noon to 7pm Wednesdays to Saturdays in summer; and noon through to 5pm on Sundays. Group and dining charters are also available.

    A trip around the Canal

This is something really nice to do if you have an hour and a half to spare and want a real nature trip. A trip down the canal is real relaxing and a perfect romantic oppurtunity. At night, they specially charter this and it is a perfect oppurtunity for proposing to that special someone. The canal is very pretty, and at night you can have catered food on the ferry, and music, while you enjoy the serene night atmosphere of Richmond and the Canal. A very romantic thing here. Check out my tip on the Canal Walk to get a more descriptive tip about the entire Canal.
