Bad Neighbourhoods, Richmond

Well there is great things about it, Crime,Violence,Gangs and Etc isn't.So please beware,It isn't to friendly there.Watch the news so many times,Just to much to handle in richmond,so many crazy people and they don't care what happens to them. :( would love to say something good about richmond but obviously i can't.

look all these other sights have it wrong richmond is not as bad as people say i live right next to kenedy highschool in fact i go there and i walk to school any way the rules i follow are this do not ever where wear red blue or green if you get in a fight make sure they cannot walk any more and last if you hear bullets run in zig zag lines if you are not fast then hit the ground. oh yah and if i girl walks up to you and flirts she is most likely a hooker consider yourself self warned children

I have lived in many areas in the Richmond area including Randolph, Jackson ward, downtown, the fan, carytown, and the northside off of brooklyn park and the northside, first off, does not mess around, almost nightly you will hear gunshots including machine guns like AK47's. But it's not just isolated in the north side but that's where most of te shootings are. The fan is very interesting, with a ton of diverse gangs and crews. Richmond has a big hardcore punk scene so you have kids in crews like world war crew, militia crew, guerilla crew and they are dangerous in numbers, they will put you in the hospital for the night because they will jump you and sometimes they have things like police batons and brass knuckles but for the most part just fist fights, they don't shoot people but don't under estimate those kids. The gangs are diverse just like the city, it has its bad apples but the good things in Richmond outweigh the bad. There is no other place like Richmond, it is a historic and one of a kind city.

ALOT OF CRIME HAPPENS NEAR CHAMBERLAYNE AVE. (AROUND LABURNUM)OR THE NORTHSIDE.I FEEL LIKE IT IS A STRANGE SENSE OF PARANORMAL ACTIVITY THAT IS BUILT UP IN THIS LOCATION.I'VE BEEN HERE ALL MY LIFE AND I DON'T GO OUT UNLESS I HAVE TO.IT IS NOT A GREAT PLACE TO VACATION, IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO.IT IS TRUE WE HAVE NUMEROUS MURDERS HERE,SO BEWARE!YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!IT IS PROSTITUTES WORKING ON CHAMBERLAYNE THAT IS GIVING PEOPLE AIDS.33 SEX OFFENDERS HERE AND ALOT OF DRUG INDUSED PEOPLE OVER HERE!ALOT OF HOMES ON CHAMBERLAYNE AVE. HOUSE SEX OFFENDERS AND CRAZY PEOPLE.IF YOU GO OUT AT NIGHT,GO TO THE CLUB AREAS ON FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS.MAIN ST. AND BROAD ST.CARRY MACE OR SOMETHING TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND STAY IN A HIGH SECURITY HOTEL.EVEN POLICE DON'T LIKE COMING OUT OF THEIR CARS OVER HERE.AMBULANCE ALSO.PIZZA PLACES DON'T DELIVER OVER HERE,SUCH AS PIZZA HUT AND DOMINOES TO THE CHAMBERLAYNE AVE.

Please use caution when travel to downtown Richmond nieghborhoods. Downtown Richmond is a great historic place with lots of fun things to do. There are tons of museums, resturant areas, and the Slip has quite a few nightclubs. These areas are great and do go there and have a lot of fun!!! Do beware of nieghborhoods in those surrounding areas! These tend to be the high crime areas so becareful.

Like any city, there are dodgy neighbourhoods. You're okay in most suburbs, but mind your things closely downtown. The most dangerous areas are north of the intersection of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Laburnum Avenue; east of Shockoe Bottom downtown; south of the James River- east of Powhite Parkway and north of Hull Street.

In Richmond at night you have to be very careful, because certain areas of downtown Richmond tend to be very unsafe. Unfortunately Virginia's capital has the 4th highest murder rate in the country, so that only emphasizes the point of being careful. Neighborhoods to watch out for include the Jackson Ward area, Gilpin Court, and other parts of the east part of the City. The heart of dowtown Richmond near Cary and Shockoe Bottom are pretty safe at night, and are pretty well lit. Overall, however I would warn any foreigner to be mindful of where they are, and who approches them. Stay in well lit areas, and go out with a group of people rather than alone.

Richmond has bad areas too. There are housing projects that border good neighborhoods and business districts. If it feels wrong it probably is wrong. Just lock the doors and keep driving. Most of the crime that happens in this area is by residents against residents. Just be aware of your surroundings.
