If you happen to be walking on Broad Street in the downtown area, you will see alot of people standing by their selves . When you walk by them, don't be suprised if they say hello as if they know you. If you happen to ignore these bums and not say a quick" hello how are you " then be prepared to get followed and bothered for the next 2-3 blocks. I lived in the medical campus for 2 years and always walked on Broad Street. This odd scenario never failed. If you smile and say hi back you will be left alone.

    Grey Hair and Tour Guides

by ATXtraveler Written Feb 28, 2008 2040 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

One thing to make sure you are mindful of when touring Richmond, is the propensity of its tour guides to get annoyed if you mention that they have grey hair. In this photo, you can clearly see that there are in fact grey hairs on my tour guide (B1Bob) Nat. Although he will mention till he is blue in the face that there are no silver streaks in his hair, I think the evidence is overwhelming.

    Clean up after your pet

    Don't say I didn't warn you

Whether you are a newcomer to Richmond or a visitor staying here, if you have a pet, make sure you clean up after them if you take them on walks in public areas. The city recently passed an ordinance imposing a $250 fine for those who fail to clean up after their pets. For everybody else, the law helps, but it is not perfect. Still take care to mind where you walk.

Don't Be This Guy (Part 2)

Here we see a gentleman at Richmond International Raceway who's had a few times a few too many! NASCAR races at Richmond start at about 7 PM and last for a few hours, so it's a good idea to pace yourself. This guy might have been fine - if the race had started at noon. Watch your alcohol intake - especially on a hot day - or you could be getting a free gurney ride to the garage!

Don't Be This Guy! (Part 1)

Here we see a gentleman being given a free ride in a cart at Richmond International Speedway. But he's not a contest winner... in fact, doesn't look like he's a winner at all, seein' as he's been cuffed. Keep your wits about you at the races and don't drink too much, or you may be next up on the cart ride!
