Bertucci's is a place to go to sit back in the glow of their authentic brick oven and breathe in the aroma of fresh bread baking, vegetables roasting as well as savor the flavors of their signature seafood dishes, entrýe specialties, pasta dishes, and of course, incomparable pizzas. One of only a handful of restaurants in America awarded the...

  • Exotic, alluring and delicious

I had driven by this restaurant quite a few times and never stopped in. Well I was looking for something different, so one night I stopped by for dinner (take out). Luckily for me, it was crowded, so I was talk to the son (it's a family run business). Nice conversation about food, Afghanistan and more food...great place that you should visit when...

  • Steaks, Ribs and Prime Rib

A fun and lively place where you go for a great meal at a decent price. If you are looking for an appetizer, then I would highly recommend the Lightly Fried Calamari (served with marinara sauce for dipping).Once you are seated, the server brings out a bucket of roasted peanuts. Once you order your meal, sweet honey glazed rolls are placed on the...

  • Wings and Margarita's

The Hard Times Cafe was conceived as a desire to maintain an important part of America's culinary history. On Wednsday night, they have chicken wings and margarita specials. So I had 12 Golden Wings (25 cents a piece) along with a couple Margarita's on the rocks.

  • A happening place

The popularity of this place has made it the most successful steak house in Northern Virginia, not to mention a restaurant that draws a crowd from all over the area. It's a classic American steak house offering Certified Angus prime rib and steaks in a casual, stylish setting. There is not enough parking on the property, so you can park next door...

This is a family run restaurant which has a very loyal following. We stopped by for lunch and the place was packed...a good sign that the food is worth waiting for. • No rules, just right

Excellent place to order a steak, watch sports or have a great time with friends. Most of the time, this place is crowded, so call ahead for a reservation. If you are lucky enough, you can just show up and hope for a spot at one of the tables (or booths) in the bar area. Once you find a seat, your waiter will start you off with Sweet Brown Bread....

Springfield Transportation

Anyone who travels in and around Springfield should be familiar with the Springfield Interchange.
Sometimes parts of the interchange undergo construction usually at night time (really late). If they have to close down the highway, they can only do so for no more than 15 minutes at a time. This can be a long wait so be patient! I've been through this a couple times and most drivers need to be patient! If you want to avoid this, you may want to take a peek at the interstate (if you can) when on the backroads before you take the ramp to the interstate.
Also pay ATTENTION!! Since the interchange is going through construction, the exits and merging lanes and reroutes are somewhat of a mess.
Drivers that are unfamiliar with the roads and may haplessly switch lanes to an exit pay extra attention when on the roads. Also, when merging, try to do so ASAP so you don't cause congestion and confusion.
Also, traffic is always bad during rush-hour so I suggest either take HOV (with 3 people) or the backways. Although many parts of the area have been completed, there is still more to be done. Estimated completion of the project is for late 2007.

All the foods they offer for sale! This is the only chain grocery store I know of in Virginia that carry wines from Charles Shaw. I particularly enjoy the Cabs. $3.49 for a bottle of Charles Shaw to as much as you want to pay!

  • The Only Mall You'll Ever Need?

That used to be the radio commercial for Springfield Mall "the only mall you'll ever need".One of the best things about this mall is they have a "family rest stop" where you can go sit down, watch TV, get a free cup of coffee, use the rest room, rent a stroller, borrow a wheelchair, get your stuff gift wrapped. And even get a little massage. It is...

Springfield Warnings and Dangers

The "mixing bowl" where I-495 and I-95 meet is one of the worst traffic areas. There always seems to be construction going on there. If you're going south on I-95 and intend to keep going south stay to the left to avoid getting caught up in the mixing bowl. If you're going south on I-495 and want to exit at Springfield, stay to the right.

Springfield Off The Beaten Path

  • by jmcleary Written Jan 22, 2005

County Park with a lake, you can rent canoes and rowboats. There is a train trestle that runs over the dam and it's fun to watch the train. Nice place for kids with a carousel and putt putt golf in the summer plus playground, volleyball area, grills, picnic tables and pavilions. Easy hiking around the lake and several letterbox locations.
