Staunton is located in western region of Virginia, about one hour west of Charlottesville, at southern end of the Shenandoah Valley bounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Appalachian and Allegheny Plateaus to the west.
I drove a car from Charlottesville to Staunton crossing the Blue Ridge Mountains covered by thick fog that October day. Keep in mind that weather may change as soon as you cross the mountains. I didn't want to drive I-64 but some secondary scenic roads but when I got lost for the first time in the USA and could see nothing more than thick fog in the mountains, I hit my car back to I-64.
Well, I don't know how to pronounce that secret, probably Indian name of Shenandoah although everything is Shenandoah in this part of Virginia: valley, shops, gifts, university, hotels, national park etc. There is also an old (1965) movie - Civil War drama - named Shenandoah but I haven't seen it.
