Upper Cabin: Graves Mountain Lodge

Upper Cabin: Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria

Alisonchilla Says:  Always clean when you arrive. Tranquil setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Bunkbeds galore in the Upper cabin. Sleeps 12+. Refigerator, stove, and tools to cook with. Graves staff will come and change towels and empty trash for you. No frills.

What to Pack

Luggage and bags: whatever you can pack in your car

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Syria is chilly to freezing from late fall to early spring. It is warm in the summer, but due to its elevation, it is cooler than DC.
Dress approapriately!
I would recommend long sleeved shirts and long pants for trekking in the woods to avoid ticks (and sunburn).

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Bring soap, shampoo, and all other toiletries.
Also mosquito repellant and sunblock.

Photo Equipment: Whatever you want!

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Bring folding chairs. You will use them outside by the campfire or as extra seating inside.

Miscellaneous: FOOD.
The nearest grocery store is miles away.
Bring enough food and alcohol to last your trip.

The Lodge

Favorite thing: I've hidden a Geocache in Syria.
Find it at http://www.geocaching.com.
It is called "The Murder Cabin" - The log book is an ongoing ghost story.

If you have never been to Syria before, be sure to drive around and take in the sights. The nature is beautiful, and the locals are amusing.
