Fort Story,this is the army base in Virgina and it is north of Virginia Beach.The place to go here if you want the sun and you can also drink on the beach as it is a military beach.I only went once and didn't drink but at least the option is there.

I love the beach but the tourist beach just wasn't for me.If you want a quiet beach you'll have to go past 1st street and over the bridge.Then take (I think) the 1st left if your coming from Va Beach and this will bring you into an very rich estate.Just head towards the beach from here.It's so beautiful,it's where all the surfers are and the water is much nicer too.You could also head the other direction to 66th street,this beach is beautiful at night.

Go to Sandbridge at the south end of Virginia Beach. It is a very quiet beach in a residential neighborhood.
It is beautiful!
I also recommend Cape Henry, You can tour the lighthouse and the shore is lit up at night for the ships. It is gorgeous.
