Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Well, ofcourse the bathing suit is a neccessity as well as a light sweater or sweat shirt. I did not see any bathrooms where one can change, so bring something you can throw over your suit if this is just a day trip, if not, go back to the hotel and shower, and change..but bring a sweater. I wish we had, as the restaurants are cold.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sunscreen, aloe gel, lotion. Anything for sunburn, if you are careless and forget that the worst burns occur on overcast/cloudy days, and one can get tanned or burnt later in the day as well.
Photo Equipment: Your standard picture taking equipment. I have found in the past, that the salt air can wreak havoc with one's cameras. So take neccessary precautions.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Family Travel
Miscellaneous: The City of Virginia Beach has a nice bike path beginning a few miles south of town. You can take this right to the downtown beach area and ride along the ocean between the promanade and the hotels. The path continues to Fort Henry and beyond. I also asked permission to park at a farm stand and rode into the rural areas toward the North Carolina state line. The road from Sandbridge is busy and has no shoulder.
