Virginia Beach Amusement Park by tpangelinan Virginia Beach Amusement Park is located on the boardwalk at 15th street, across the street from the pier. Lots of rides, games, slides, music, moonwalks, plenty of family fun for little ones up to adults. Grab a Virginia Beach Guide out of one of those boxes on the street I talked about in a general tip for saving money in this town. You will find a $5.00 coupon good for all the members in your party, am all day wristband. Leave a Comment

Joe on the beach by bugalugs I am not really a beach person, I dont like the sand it gets everywhere, but the beach in Virginia Beach is so clean, and soft (each night it is cleaned) and you cant not take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean, where swimming not too many yards away you will see dolphins leaping and diving, oh its such a wonderful sight and something I will always remember. Naval Ship at Norfolk by Goner Norfolk, Virginia is the home of the world's largest Navy base, has miles of sandy Chesapeake Bay beaches, a historic downtown district, a complex of waterfront shops and restaurants, a collection of cruise boats and ferries, and an excellent selection of museums. Norfolk is centered around the port of Hampton Roads, one of the largest, naturally deep, ice-free harbors in the world. You can see tugs, barges, sailboats, commercial vessels, and navy ships moving in and out of the port through the Elizabeth River. Norfolk's downtown waterfront area is located right on the banks of the Elizabeth River. The Norfolk Waterside Marketplace, the centerpiece of the waterfront district, offers dining, shopping. Special events, such as the annual Norfolk Harborfest, are held next to Waterside, at the waterfront Town Point Park. Leave a Comment

Cape Henry Lighthouses by bugalugs There are two lighthouses on this base and also the First Landing Cross, but access to the whole of the base is not allowed. Some areas are restricted. The base is used for training of amphibious equipment because of the beaches/sea. Photo ID is required on entry, you are given a ticket which your car registration is noted and I think you hand the ticket in when you leave. Leave a Comment

Chesapeake Bay Bridge by Goner A modern engineering wonder on US 13 spanning 17.6 miles across the Chesapeake Bay. Both a tourist attraction and travel convenience, the Bridge-Tunnel saves motorists time and mileage between Virginia Beach/Norfolk and New York. Fishing pier, gift shop and restaurant located on the South Island. There is a $10 charge to cross the bridge and a 24-hour round-trip toll rate is available. It’s particularly interesting for me as the company I work for built the new addition to the bridge. Leave a Comment Phone: 757-331-2960

Entrance to Chrysler Museum by Goner The New York Times described the Chrysler's permanent collection as "one any museum in the world would kill for." Comprising over 30,000 objects the collection spans over 5000 years of world history. There are American and European paintings and sculpture from the Middle Ages to the present day. I enjoyed the impressionist gallery, as it?s my favorite style. There are works by Monet, Degas, Renoir, Gauguin, Rodin and C?zanne. The Museum?s glass collection is one of the world?s greatest collections. The types and style of glass is endless in every color of the rainbow plus. They also have collections of decorative arts and photography. Each year the Chrysler presents an average of 15 special exhibitions of outstanding artworks from around the world. The museum is located on a beautiful waterfront sight facing the Hague inlet of Norfolk's historic Elizabeth River, the Museum building houses 60 galleries, an auditorium, gift shop, restaurant, and the Jean Outland Chrysler Library. The Museum was opened in 1989, and in 1997 the Museum completed a new education wing including spaces for hands-on art classes and new galleries for its celebrated collection of American neo-classical sculpture. The Museum's historic Willoughby-Baylor, and Moses Myers houses are located nearby. Open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday, 1 - 5 p.m. (the website says admission by voluntary contribution, however I remember paying a $4 entrance fee) Leave a Comment Address: 245 West Olney Road, Norfolk, VA 23510Phone: (757) 664-6200Directions: from Virginia Beach, take Route 44 W until it becomes I-264 W to Downtown Norfolk.
