Still not certain what this is, but it took up the entire block. The entrance was actually halfway down the block. It appears to be a haunted spookhouse of sorts but it wasn't open for the season yet.
Unique Suggestions: Take your picture under the skull.

It's a little different than other boardwalks I've been along. irst off, this one is just about two miles long. The running along side it is a black top bike and skate path, but many still use the extra wide concrete walkway along the beach. Sculptures and sculpture parks dot the expanse. There is a restaurant and and a couple of small gift shops on the pier. The gate was closed to go out to the far end of the structure.
Unique Suggestions: Just go for the leisurely stroll. The sites alone will be well worth it.

THE usual beach shops and the bike rentals and usual stuff you find at the beach that charge outrageous fee's unless you have a lot of money i wouldnt recommend it or bring your own bike if you have one to ride on the boardwalk.....
Unique Suggestions: BE AWARE TO SPEND GOOD BIT OF MONEY
Fun Alternatives: GO elsewhere for beach stuff some stuff you do need on beach they have it

The taxi drivers can be very nice and will work with you if you are running a little short. A lot of times its because the rate is jacked way up to begin with though. The absolute worst is from Norfolk AP ... see who will go a little less.
Unique Suggestions: Get a rate from place to place when you call in and offer to go most of the way. Also let them know if your a little short they will probably take you there anyhow .. they are very personable and down to earth.
Fun Alternatives: Take the bus or trolly they are great.

Only went to one that was connected to a restaurant through a hallway to a hotel ... totally ripped me off smiling the whole time. Sold beach items and trinkets.
Unique Suggestions: Double check every item on reciept for the great deal they are going to give to you just because they are so nice.
Fun Alternatives: About a block or so from the beach is less expensive stores for the same items and inland is the basic stores any town has.

All of VA beach is a tourist trap...all the usual suspect shops....beachgear, seafood, diving gear, incense and tatoos...it's all here...When I was here, I thought about these shop owners and decided it's a rough existence..make your money in a few months(one hopes), and wait until the next season.
Unique Suggestions: You can't avoid it..as there is one major road into town. There are short cuts, but we won't touch that here.

renting a 'bicycle car' to ride on the boardwalk. They look neat, but $30.00 an hour is a bit pricey!!!
Rented a jetski one day. Rented it from a local place on Rundee Inlet. You go into the ocean with it, so if you are used to smooth water, the waves may not be for you. Be sure to check the wave conditions first. You can not take it fast in the inlet.
