Inside Kramerbooks, bar in background by jetsetterforever Say you're in DC and you've spent all day doing the typical touristy regiment of seeing momuments, visiting museums, and taking tours and you're just looking for a place to "unwind" for a few hours. Kramerbooks is your place. Kramerbooks is a novel idea which combines two essential themes, books and booze, in one. Part cafe/bar and part bookstore, Kramer's is open 24 hours on the weekends and serves as a great place to hangout. The bar is frequented by both locals and out-of-towners and it's a great place to strike up a conversation over a beer. Every evening from Wednesday to Saturday, they have live music from a variety of genres. Hands down, I recommend Kramerbooks as a great place to hang out. I mean booze and books....what more could you possibly want? Leave a Comment Address: 1517 Connecticut Ave., NWDirections: Just above Dupont CircleWebsite: www.kramers.com/

Washington Momument by Suet I really like the Washington Monument. It is impressive in its height and history, looks VERY pretty on a sunny day and you can see the whole of Washington DC from each of its small windows at the top. Last time I visited this was when I was a young woman full of enthusiasm for living in a different country.... Leave a Comment

The Capitol Building by Suet Apparently they built this the wrong way round when they were designing the city, eh what the hell, it looks pretty good..... although they seem to have nicked the design from Sir Christopher Wren (St Paul's Cathedral, London). We didn't go in due to time constraints, but there was a chance to talk to a rather nice policeman about which direction to go in next. Leave a Comment Directions: Up the other end of the Mall

Arlington Gravestones by Suet We took a Tourmobile (cost $20 each for the day), up to Arlington Cemetery (don't eat or drink on the bus) which I found terribly sad. All those young people… all those gravestones… People are still buried here, having served their country, they have all the people from the Challenger that died on take off.. It's a profoundly moving experience. I cried. Leave a Comment

A hint of the Cherry Blossoms. by tracylacie The Cherry Blossoms blooming is a must see in DC. In 2007 the celebration is commemorating 95 years since the gift of 3000 cherry trees from Japan. The festival runs March 31-April 15, 2007. The blossoms are truely a sight to behold! The whole of the area is the colour pink! There is a large parade with many floats and large character balloons. Fun for kids!

This museum holds the world’s largest collection of historic spacecraft and aircraft. So whether you want to fly into the past with the Wright Brothers or slip into the future on Mars you will be at the right place. I'd rather fly than to understand all those technical details and rather made many captures for my husband. The price is right, as well, this one is free. b Opening hours: 10:00 am - 5:30 pm Open every day except December 25 Admission:Free Public lots located nearby but we had problem to find one though Leave a Comment Address: Independence Ave at 4th Street, SWDirections: Located at the National Mall Bldg.

Lincoln Memorial by Suet Very impressive building I think they nicked the design from the Parthenon in Athens, but nice just they same.... I like the size and expression of Abe Lincoln, he sits on his chair and gazes at all the tourists and out on down the reflecting pool up to the Washington Monument. Well worth a visit. If you are within a short walking distance the Mall is a wonderful place to have a picnic lunch. There are shaded areas along both sides and lunching there is common practice with the locals that work nearby. I suggest a blanket as the Mall lawn is not the cleanest place to lounge on the grass. It is bustling with activity at lunch and wonderful if you are a people watcher. Address: Capital Mall

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Concepcion is a great place to visit. It is probably the largest Catholic Church of America. Its Byzantine and Romanesque architecture, and the elaborate collections of mosaics and arts are very fascinating. Leave a Comment Address: 400 Michigan Ave NE

The interior of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Mother Mary is very consecrated area. For me it is here a holy place. I usually do not make photos inside unless i have the chance to do so. During this visit, there were many churhgoers at the hall near the tabernacle. Leave a Comment
