Two good nightlife spots are Blues Alley in Georgetown for blues or jazz, or if you enjoy political humor, see the 'Capitol Steps' who sing politically satirical words to popular tunes, such as a 'The Looneys on the Right' to the tune of the Broadway Phantom of the Opera song, the spirit of the night. Catch a live show every Friday or Saturday night at the auditorium of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue. Go to http: //www.capsteps.com/ for a sampling of their latest works. Tickets for the show are $31.50 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster (202-432-SEAT, 703-573-SEAT) or: www.ticketmaster.com.
The DC Improv was so much fun. I've never been to a real comedy club before, I've only seen it on TV and I always thought it was a dark smokey enviornment but I was blown away by The Improv when I went in. The staff was friendly, it was bright and clean even though it's in a basement. The food was tasty, the drinks not overpriced and the comics that night were INCREDIBLE!! I even recognized him from TV which was totally cool. If you are looking for a pretty inexpensive night out on the town then I totally recommend The DC Improv.
