Hey, if you like beer and you're into tasting new kinds from around the world... clearly this is your place. Although the building looks a bit like a hotel from the outside (complete with red carpet steps and large red awning) the Brickskeller actually resides in the basement level. Down the stairs you go into a subterranian beer heaven. They have over 1,000 beers to choose from and the numbers keep rising. The basement level atmosphere is comfortable and cozy... a prefect area to relax and sip beers you have never had, and might never have again. Want to make a night out of it? Go to the Brickskeller for beer AND dinner. They describe their menu as being "hefty, hot and hearty". When I was there I had one of their big burgers and it didn't disappoint. But come on, are we really grading them on their food? Hello! Over 1,000 beers here... pull up a seat and tip one back!
Dress Code: Casual all the way.

If you can find a bar in Washington (or anywhere else) with a larger selection of beer...I'll buy you a beer. A multi-level bar and eating place, The Brickskeller is an institution and always crowded. The menu lists beers by countries and the way to say 'cheers' in as many languages. For a group of friends to get together for a drink, this is the place.

Sadly, I was so zonked from my days that I wasn't prepared to fully engage in the nightlife. There are 2 nightlife's in DC: one is the formal nightlife for the wheeler-dealer types (if you are so lucky to be invited) and then there are the clubs etc. where students and young people hang out.
