Georgetown University Campus
Located at 37th & O Streets NW, in the Georgetown area of Washington D.C. the Georgetown University campus was impressive and comfortable.
I came here twice, first to tour the campus and second to sit in on a class.
The first visit was in the late afternoon. We walked through several lovely buildings, and walked along the tree lined pathways connecting one building to the other. We ate dinner at the cafeteria, surprisingly the food was pretty good and not at all expensive.
Next time I came to Georgetown, it was to sit-in on a Philosophy class with a post-graduate student.
There is something about academic life that appeals to me and a University is a wonderful place to meet people who are intelligent, curious and very energetic.

The University became co-ed by the end of the 1960's.
This is an open campus, so, I was able to walk around and see the lovely buildings, the well kept grounds and the vibrant activity of the students interacting.
It seemed a small and cozy campus and I would have loved to have been able to attend it.
Oh, I did attend!
Well, I sat in on a post-graduate class one evening and though the subject was interesting, inside the class room it was the same as any other I have attended.

The most interesting aspect of GU life was the way the students rallied behind the sporting teams. When GU beat a highly fancied Duke in a college basketball game, the parties spilled out into the streets!
I attended the "Senior's Day" lacrosse game against UMass, along with several hundred patrons. The home team won 8 - 6.
Georgetown University is an exclusive university north-west of downtown, up on the "Hilltop". There are many lovely buildings and nice gardens and a visit provides an interesting insight to the rite of passage that is the American college experience.
While we were there something really weird happened ... Mariana started saying that she wanted to study again ... and now she's actually heading for it! I wonder if it wasn't some kind of campus ghost who gave her that idea...
