Clyde's of Georgetown: Regular American Fare

    Clyde's

This is one of several Clyde's Restaurants in the DC area although this one is the original. Each is individually managed. The menus may differ.

The 1976 song "Afternoon Delight" was inspired by Clyde's late afternoon appetizer menu.

    clyde's

clyde's is a local chain with 13 restaurants in the washington d.c. area. i normally do not write tips about chain restaurants but clyde's was quite good. i had lunch at their location in chinatown and enjoyed the victorian decor and the food was an excellent value. for a nice moderately priced place to eat and drink i recommend it.

This is without a doubt an icon of a restaurant in Georgetown. It offers great seafood. It is also a favorite watering hole with Washingtonians ever since it openned its doors in 1963. It can get packed, so reservations are suggested. Great location in the middle of Georgetown.

    Favorite Dish: Crab Cake Sandwitch.

    Clyde's

Washington Restaurants are not that great. There are some chain restaurants like Clyde's (pictured here.) There are some independent ones. But you don't visit here to eat. If you want to eat, go to New York.

We've always had good times at the regular stand bys, Red Sage, Old Ebbitt, Clyde's, Grand, Nathan's and sometimes we'll hop the Metro go all the way out to Alexandria to Generous George's Positve Pizza and Pasta and Gadsby's.

Anything you order from the menu is good. They also have a nice bar with good beer selections. Lots of interesting people frequent this place. Go early it tends to get crowded for dinner.

This is one of the best places in the Chinatown/Gallery Place area. The food, service, and ambiance are great.

Favorite Dish: The seafood fettucine is great. Try some appetizer from the raw bar--clams, oysters, etc.
