The Redskins Cheerleaders not only perform @ Fed Ex Field in Landover, Maryland but also travel overseas to cheer the troops. I was able to catfh them in action @ the 2006 Final Tryouts inside Tyson's Corner Mall in Virginia.

    View from Section 402

by Radiomom Written Sep 16, 2004
    Sec 402 -- without a zoom, even

Now that we've got a better idea of what views are like from which sections, we may just try the scalper route one day. These were very good seats, even if they were upper deck.

While we've been to and hosted game viewing parties over the years, it really is a lot more fun to be there in person. There was an offer for new season tickets this year -- but at $3500 PER SEAT, we're not quite THAT fanatic about going to games!
    (That's some SERIOUS travel money...)

    Pre-Game Entertainment

by Radiomom Written Sep 16, 2004
    Before the game...

Before a Redskins' game, there are bands playing to entertain the crowds. FedEx Field seats 92,000 fans and it takes a long time to get that many people into their seats. This Budweiser area was set up with a very good "cover band" and a large tent with lots of chairs and tables. Sort of a specialized-on-the-spot Sports Bar!

Equipment: Relax, Enjoy yourself, bring patience and some cash :-) Do come early enough to walk around to take in all the free entertainment before the game.

It takes deep pockets to be a die-hard fan!

by Radiomom Written Sep 16, 2004
    Opening Day 2004

But once and a while--- IT'S WORTH IT! When my son got back from his second tour of duty with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, the thing he wanted to do most was to go to a 'Skins' game. So we went through a broker to get seats (ouch $160/each plus fees) for the opening game of the 2004 NFL season. The coach who made many of us die-hard fans has returned to coach our team -- Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs. It was a gorgeous day and while it's probably a bigger deal personally to have our SON back, we all are happy to have Gibbs back too!

Equipment: You can not bring any food or beverage in to the stadium. It opens 2 hours prior to the game. Your best bet is to tailgate so you won't be hungry during the game. (Inside, cokes are $4-5, beer is $7+, pretzels are $4 and hot dogs $6. (And those are the LOW priced items!)

Like boarding an aircraft, there's even a size limit for any handbag you might bring in -- 10x12x4 inches! They've got a little box at the gate it has to fit in (just like some airports have for carryons!)

If you enjoy watching sports, you'll have plenty of choices in D.C.
Professional sports teams include the Washington Redskins of the NFL, the Washington Capitals of the NHL, the Washington Wizards (Michael Jordan's team) of the NBA, the Washington Mystics of the WNBA and D.C. United of Major League Soccer.
