When you get bored of all the monuments and musuems...take a day trip into Georgetown for some great shopping and great atmosphere! There are some wonderful restaurants in this area, and you can find just about any type of food you're looking for! Parking can be a pain...head for the mall parking lot, if you buy something in the mall, parking is usually only a few dollars! The area is also VERY happening at night, and a safe area.
Almost anywhere in this city you'll see a huge mixture of ethnicity and races. The more diverse the crowd, the more it adds to the atmosphere.

The prestigious Georgetown University. Its School of Foreign Service has been highly regarded. The former US President Bill Clinton is among the University's distinguished alumni. Shown in picture is Healy Building.
    Very attractive-looking campus buildings.

Georgetown is the one area of Washington you will not be able to access by the Metro. The closest you can go is Foggybottom/GWU Station. Busses run along Wisconsin Ave. Georgetown has several lively college bars and places to shop. By contrast it has peaceful cobblestoned streets and old brownstone houses where the elite of Washington live and entertain guests. Wildlife and joggers co-exist along the banks of the old canal.

Such a beautiful part of DC! I highly recommend doing a little shopping on the main drag, then wandering through the neighborhoods.
