Smithsonian Institute Castle, Washington D.C.
This is a beautiful old building, rather goth wouldn't you say. This is the smallest of the Smithonian buildings and the first.
The castle has loads of information about the various museums as well as which exhibits are currently on display for the biggest of the temporary exhibits. It also has some generic Smithsonian gifts.
Had to take my picture from the Tour Trolley. I have a list already of where I want my stops to be next time I'm here. I deffiantely want to to back!
Stop in at the old Smithsonian Castle building for orientation to the Smithsonian Museums. It will be a great help.
Not much to see inside the building as it is primarily used for administration these days. But its still a grand old building and the start of a great institution.
There are a multitude of museums: Smitsonian (on the picture), Hirschorn (or something like this), the Phillips Collection (I especially recommend).
This is one of the buildings you can see in the Mall. Popularly known as the Castle, it belongs to the Smithsonian Institution.
