Civic Field, which is home to many of the local high school spots, like football, soccer, Lacrosse.
As well as many college and City rec -venues as well.

Equipment: definately need cleats, or shine guards. Depends on the sports you will play. Also has a track you can run around in.

    The Charter

    by JoAnn&Chris Written Dec 8, 2002

Charter a sailboat for a week or more. Cruise through the San Juan Islands where you will never be out of sight of land, and you are protected from the ocean waves and swells by Vancouver Island. You can drop your anchor in small private coves and catch crabs for dinner, stop in funcky little towns to shop, or go totally yachty in Roche Harbor.

Equipment: You do need to have sailing experience before you will be allowed to charter.

  • Whitewater River Rafting

by gradymc Written Jul 6, 2011

Northwest Washington offers some of the best whitewater river rafting in the Country. There are many free-flowing rivers that offer anything from scenic floats to some of the steepest and most exciting rivers you can find. I've been rafting and kayaking for a long time, and find it to be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. Its a great way for families to spend time together, as well as to meet new people. Check around the town you're visiting, you will almost always find a good local outfitter to plan a trip for you.

Equipment: No equipment needed unless you're doing a private float, in which case make sure you are well prepared!

    Disc Golf, yay!

by artgrad Written Feb 1, 2005

Bellingham has a disc golf course at Cornwall Park on Guide Meridian. Lots of trees and shade. I believe there are 9 holes. Tee Type is Brick. PDGA describes it as "short but challenging, through thick forest."

Equipment: You can purchase golf discs locally at several places, including Frank's Pawn Shop on Railroad downtown, Cosmic Comics on Cornwall, and BC Surf Sport in Bellis Fair Mall.

    Scuba Diving

by artgrad Updated Apr 4, 2011

Bellingham is a great place to learn to scuba dive, with 3 different dive shops to choose from. WWU has a dive club if you are a student and want a group to go explore the deep blue waters of the bay.
